HOW WEIGHT LOSS PILLS WORK.

Before you decide to use any weight loss pill and place all your weight loss goals on diet pills, i think it is important to understand how weight loss pills work and what exactly they do in your body.
How diet pills work depends very much on the ingredients they contain. While some work to suppress your appetite, others speed up your metabolism or eliminate toxins that promote weight gain.
However, diet pills are preferred over herbs for weight loss because they contain extracts, have a higher concentration and are hence more effective.

Appetite Suppressant effect: Diet pills based on hoodia gardonii fall in this category.

Metabolic Rate Enhancers: Some diet pills are meant to improve metabolism and to promote calorie burning. Exercising while taking such pills will help you to burn calories even faster. Consulting a health care provider before taking such diet pills is mandatory, as they tend to increase blood pressure. If you have hypertension, you can try to lower the dosage or take another type of supplement.

Prevent Fat Absorption: Another role of diet pills is to block the absorption of dietary fat. The active ingredient in these pills inhibit the enzyme 'lipase' in the gastrointestinal tract. As fat is no longer assimilated by the body, it will be eliminated in stool. However, these pills also affect the absorption of fat soluble vitamins. In order to avoid the deficiencies, it is recommended that you take vitamin supplements along with these diet pills. More than that, diet pills are not adequate for everybody who is overweight and hence, you should take them only if you suffer from obesity.

Antioxidants and weight loss: Acai berry extract, a common ingredient found in many pills nowadays, is rich in anti-oxidants that fight free radicals and help your body to stay healthy. Anti-oxidants prevent cell oxidization and improve energy levels. This is particularly helpful if stress is the main cause of your weight gain. It also needs to be administered carefully. Vitamin C is water soluble and does not pose a threat to your health but vitamins A and E are fat soluble and lead to toxicity if taken in high amounts.

Regardless of the type of diet pills that you decide to use, you are advised not to take them for prolonged periods of time. In addition, you should rely on diet pills that are approved by FDA/NAFDAC as these do not contain hidden ingredients and do not have serious side effects.
